Day 3 of my journey has just began. I am making an effort to be more physically active, which is extremely difficult due to my size. I find it very hard to do simple things, such as walk up a set of stairs. Hopefully after losing some of this weight I will be able to move around more freely. I was looking forward to going fishing today, however it is raining pretty bad.
I am already starting to see some slight changes in my appearance. My cheeks have gone down in size dramatically. My fingers also feel slightly less swollen. The worst part of dieting would probably have to be my total lack of energy. I know this is pretty common when first starting a juicing diet. Last night my hunger pains got really bad and I made a thin vegetable soup with a small amount of chicken broth for protein.
Colin is still being pretty supportive. In a moment of weakness I begged him to get me something sweet and definitely non diet. He did agree (Don't worry, I stopped him.) I am currently looking into the YMCA and membership costs. It would be really great if I could get into some swimming once or twice a week. I really love the YMCA here in my town because we have a cardio waterway. Basically its like a reverse lazy river. It has a strong current that you fight against to walk around.

Yesterday an intervention with my family inspired me to begin losing weight. As a morbidly obese 21 year old female this will undoubtedly be the hardest challenge I have ever experienced. I have a BMI of over 80 and to be honest, I've never seriously dieted or made an attempt to lose weight. We all have our sad stories and no doubt I do too, but I will not focus on my past. I will strive for a better future. I decided to try juicing, after being inspired by the documentary Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.
So last night I went to Walmart and purchased a cheap $60 juicer. I was at first concerned after doing research that suggested higher end juicers ($100-$300) and many people saying that cheap juicers are basically crap. However I find this little juicer extremely efficient. I wanted my first juicing to be full of vitamins and nutrients, so I didn't really bother with a specific recipe. I'd say I went a little crazy with the amount of different vegetables and fruits I put into my little concoction.
My very first juice creation consisted of; 1/2 Beet, 2 Stalks of Celery, 3 Medium sized carrots, 1 Green apple, 1 Pear, 1/2 Cucumber, 7 Cherry tomatoes, 2 Large handfuls of chopped kale, a few grapes, and a green pepper. I would give this juice about a 3/5. It does fill you up and the taste is not bad at all. It has kind of an earthy flavor, which I really enjoyed. This yielded about 9 jars of juice.
Now I hate to say it because I love my fiance very very much but he can be somewhat of an enabler. Always bringing me little snacks home, Chocolates, doughnuts. You name it he brought it. Even in the past when I have shared with him my concerns about my weight he still continued to bring home these treats. I sat down and talked to him this time very sternly. I told him this isn't just a few extra pounds. I'm to the point where I probably only have a year or so left to live if I continue down this road. I have gained over 250 lbs since getting together with him 5 years ago. This cannot continue. When Colin returned from the store tonight and told me he had gotten me a couple treats at first I was not happy to say the least. Once he showed me what he got I was very impressed and proud.
